Smoke/Heat Detectors

Mircom smoke and heat detectors were installed on ceilings throughout the barns. When a threshold level is reached, the monitoring system sends text alerts to six phones. A person at the central monitoring station telephones a list of numbers until someone is reached.

Manual alarms are also installed at each end of the barns.

Whether the alarm is triggered manually or through the automated system, strobe lights and sirens go off outside the barn. This has been tested and does not scare the horses.

Smoke detectors can be problematic in barns due to dust accumulation and should be cleaned regularly.
